Dear Parents

Child Base Menus

I am delighted to introduce the new Child Base menu for Autumn and Winter 2006/7.

Our aim has always been to produce nutritious meals and snacks from the freshest ingredients.

There were several objectives we wanted to achieve with this season's menu:

  • Eat a Rainbow - this focuses on fruit and vegetables. We love this message adopted by the British Heart Foundation. Eat a Rainbow refers to the colours of fruits and vegetables and their nutrient content.

  • Pulses - we have adapted some existing recipes and introduced new dishes to include more beans and lentils in our recipes. We have worked hard to find some exciting ways of including them in dishes we are sure the children will love.

  • We are very keen to continue healthy puddings and have introduced some new puddings to include more fresh and dried fruit.

I hope you and your children are as pleased with this season's menu as we are!
